Three killed and 16 others injured in Stanford multi-vehicle crash

Stanford Police have registered a culpable homicide docket for investigation following a fatal motor vehicle accident in Stanford on Thursday, which claimed the lives of three occupants.

 

According to police, the multi-vehicle crash, which occurred at about 11:45 on Thursday on the R42 near Stanford, involved a Toyota Quantum minivan and two Toyota Fortuners.

 

Preliminary information suggests that the driver of the Quantum, which has 15 occupants between the ages of eight and fifteen years old on board, lost control of the vehicle while travelling to Hermanus from Gansbaai and collided with the other two vehicles.

 

 

Three of the occupants of the Quantum, two boys and a girl, were declared deceased on the scene, while the rest of the occupants were hospitalised.

 

The driver, the only occupant in one of the Toyota Fortuners and the three occupants of the other Toyota Fortuner were also hospitalised.

 

According to police, the circumstances of the incident form part of the ongoing investigation.
