Legally possible for Government to implement vaccination mandates

A local law expert says it would be legally possible for Government to implement vaccination mandates.

Executive Dean for Faculty Of Management and Law at the University of Limpopo, Professor Omphemetse Sibanda, says mandates could be implemented to bar unvaccinated individuals from accessing public spaces.

Sibanda says the mandates could help avoid stricter lockdown measures from being implemented in future.

The National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) yesterday said it supports the implementation of mandatory vaccination.

The council says it also supports restricting public gatherings to vaccinated persons, and businesses only allowing vaccinated employees to access their place of work.
