KZN Floods: death toll has risen, 448 confirmed

Published on

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has confirmed that the death toll from the disastrous floods in the province has risen to 448.  He says police search and rescue teams are still combing the mud and floodwaters for victims.

Meanwhile: Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille says her department will make state-owned land in KZN available to house communities destitute by floods that left hundreds of people homeless. She also has a plan of action to deal with repairing about 50 state-owned buildings and rural bridges that were damaged due to the flooding.
