Jacob Zuma approaches Supreme Court today

Published on

As part of his efforts to stay out of prison, former president Jacob Zuma is approaching the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein today, to contest a court decision that his release on medical parole was unconstitutional.  The High Court in Pretoria ruled on 15 December that Zuma must return to prison because his medical parole is unconstitutional.

The High Court in Pretoria ruled on 15 December last year, that Zuma must return to prison because his medical parole is unconstitutional. The application to challenge the former president’s parole had been brought by the DA, the Helen Suzman Foundation and AfriForum. The case that is being heard today is not related to the corruption case for which Zuma is facing charges in Pietermaritzburg.
