Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber is continuing his Department’s drive to bring services closer to people, after opening two new upgraded Home Affairs offices in two days.

On Saturday, Schreiber attended the opening of the new Home Affairs office in Mitchells Plain, and on Monday, the new Tygervalley branch opened its doors to the public.

The new office is conveniently located inside Tygervalley Shopping Centre, and it served its first clients on opening day.

Much like the new office in Mitchells Plain, the one in Tygervalley integrates a camera at each counter, eliminating the need to queue for photos. It also only accepts prior bookings, ensuring that there are no queues.

The Minister says the vision is to deliver “Home Affairs @ home.”

“This means that we are gradually bringing services closer to the people, including through our presence in malls.”

Schreiber says this process will eventually culminate in a complete digital transformation, enabling residents to access Home Affairs services at many more bank branches and through online devices.
