Formula E to recharge the Mother City

Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is coming to Cape Town! The sport brags with the most powerful, lightest and fastest electric race cars in world motorsport. Ian Banner is the man behind organising the Cape Town leg of the championship:

The world’s most efficient racing cars in motorsport

Capetonians will get to see the world’s most efficient racing cars in action on the 25th of February. The Formula E’s third Generation race car can reach speeds of 320 kph. The electric cars will race through the Green Point and Waterfront precincts, with the iconic Mother City backdrop wowing audiences around the world. The route is a total of 2.94 km with 12-turns is going to be one of the fastest in the series.

Cape Town’s route for Formula E

A total of 22 Formula E race cars will set off from the start-line on Vlei Road. They’ll then take the first chicane left into Helen Suzman Boulevard, followed by the second left turn chicane into Granger Bay Boulevard. The race track runs down Beach Road in Mouille Point, continuing alongside the oceanfront before taking a sharp left-hander into Fritz Sonnenberg Road and ending with a final right turn to the finish line.
