Die Kantoor is here and it’s HILARIOUS!

Published on

The Office is more than just a sitcom – it’s a global franchise with the UK’s original version getting spin-offs in 15 different countries. South Africa has joined the global craze with Die Kantoor and it’s HILARIOUS. The weekly sitcome is available to watch on Showmax with a double-bill premier today. We were joined by two of the stars Albert Pretorius and Daniah de Villiers.

Albert’s portrayal of Flip, the manager at polony distributors Deluxe Processed Meats, is our very own re-imagining of the manager role in The Office that earned both Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell their first Golden Globes, as David Brent in the British version and Michael Scott in the US version, respectively. Daniah plays Emma Engelbrecht who joins the team as the social media manager (and subsequently Flips P.A. – which she only found out after getting the job).

In addition to Pretorius and de Villiers, the cast includes SAFTA winner Schalk Bezuidenhout (Kanarie, Hotel), screen legend Lida Botha (Die Kwiksilvers), Mehboob Bawa (Bhai in Bhai’s Cafe), Carl Beukes (Jozi, The Shakedown), Silwerskerm winner Ilse Oppelt (Oh Schuks I’m Gatvol, Fishy Fêshuns), Sipumziwe Lucwaba, and Gert du Plessis.
