Five suspected robbers have been arrested in Piketberg after an armed robbery at a liquor store in Lamberts Bay. A phone, cash and bottles of alcohol were allegedly stolen.

Officers say 4 men had entered the premises on Burrel Street on Wednesday, instructing the complainant and customers to lie face down. The suspects allegedly took the complainant’s cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. They also apparently took some alcohol from the shelves.

After reports that the vehicle was heading in the direction of Piketberg, officers on patrol went to a nearby petrol station where they spotted the white Hyundai SUV with five males inside and searched the vehicle.

A firearm with ammunition was seized

 

A firearm with 8 rounds of ammunition and cash, reportedly robbed from the liquor store, were confiscated. Five males aged between 19 and 36 were taken into custody and will appear in court next week.
