Eskom says it is continually working on improving security at its facilities to prevent the vandalism and theft of critical electricity-infrastructure.

CEO, Andre de Ruyter says the theft and damage contributes to power-outages and says it also leads to a loss in capacity, which could contribute to load-shedding.

De Ruyter says the power-utility suffers millions of Rand in damages, on a yearly basis, due to these criminal activities.

He says the power-utility will continue working with law-enforcement agencies, to apprehend criminals.
