ESKOM TARIFF HIKES: TOP TIPS TO SAVE POWER

Published on

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa has given Eskom R665 billion in revenue over the next three years.

This means Eskom tariffs will increase by 9.41% this year, followed by 8.1% and then 5.22%.

If you get your electricity via the City of Cape Town they will announce in due course how they will adjust prices.

In the meantime, you might want to look at some power saving tips to help cushion the blow to your pocket.

The big power-guzzler of course remains the geyser, so make sure that you switch it off if unused or if you leave on holiday. You might also want to consider installing a timer on your geyser.

Cover your hot water heater with an insulation blanket, and reduce the temperature of your geyser thermostat.

If you are able to, investing in a solar geyser can save you up to 40% on your electricity bill in the long run.

You might not like Eskom very much, and with all the corruption allegations you might feel bitter about them charging us more, but they do have a comprehensive list (click HERE) of what you can do in and around the house to save power.

You might be surprised how all the small power saving tips add up.

Just like saving water, saving electricity is not only good for your pocket, but also good for the environment.
