The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a couple of weather warnings over the next few days. As a strong cold front is expected to move over the Western- and Northern Cape provinces.

There is a Yellow Level 4 warning in place, for disruptive rain leading to flooding in formal and informal settlements and also for roads this Sunday. The areas affected include, the West Coast, City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands and Overberg districts.

Also look out for an Orange level 6 warning for damaging interior winds leading to structural damage over the southern West Coast, City of Cape Town, western Cape Winelands and western Overberg districts – also on Sunday.

At the same time, some mountain passes could be closed, as a Yellow level 4 warning for disruptive snow has been issued for the Cederberg municipalities including the Cape Winelands district, also for Sunday (also for the latter part of the weekend).

The SAWS have also issued preliminary weather warning alerting residents to brace themselves from next Monday, as the cold front moves.

Members of the public and small scale farmers can expect heavy rains, very cold conditions, as well as very strong coastal and inland-winds. Damaging conditions at sea are also expected.

The Weather Service also issued an Orange level 6 warning for damaging coastal winds and waves leading to damage of coastal infrastructure along longer stretches of coastline. This is expected between Alexander Bay and Cape Agulhas from Sunday morning, spreading to Plettenberg Bay Sunday afternoon continuing into Monday.
