With the country’s three largest pathology groups announcing that they will reduce the prices of Covid-19 PCR tests there are still calls for these prices to be reduced even further.
Pathcare, Ampath and Lancet have now agreed to reduce the price of their Covid-19 PCR tests from R850 to R500 per test.
A Gauteng health expert, Dr Kgosi Letlape spoke to e-NCA and says in countries like India and Zimbabwe, people sometimes pay up to less than R300 per test.
