Path-Care has agreed to also reduce the price of its covid-19 PCR test.

The Competition Commission says it expects other stakeholders to also reduce the prices of their PCR tests.

This, after two of the country’s biggest private laboratories, Ampath and Lancet, agreed to reduce the price of their Covid-19 PCR test from R850 to R500.

The Commission launched a probe into test pricing in October and found that pricing still remained high despite decreasing costs for the laboratories, which continued to rake in huge profits from an essential service.
