    Amid a wave of shootings across the Cape Flats, community leaders are calling for a Commission of Inquiry into gun violence and gang activity.   At least 11 separate shooting incidents occurred over the past weekend.     The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has officially confirmed that no criminal charges will be brought forward in a high-profile rape case involving a minor in Matatiele, Eastern Cape.   The case first emerged in November 2024 when a docket, containing allegations of sexual assault of a 7 year old girl, was submitted to the Matatiele Magistrate’s Court and the Matatiele Thuthuzela Care Centre, a facility specialising in gender-based violence cases.   It was

  Western Cape residents are in for a wet and cold start to the week, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) saying the sunny conditions of the past week have given way to the cold.   The Weather Service says this week’s cold front will bring rainy weather, cold conditions, damaging winds, and rough sea conditions.   The cold front is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape provinces from Tuesday into Wednesday.

    The matter pertaining to the disappearance and alleged rape of a Hanover Park girl was heard in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday.   The nine-year-old was reportedly lured into the home of a convicted rapist who was recently released on parole.
