  The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police Department have reportedly recovered 41 stolen vehicles in the last 10 months and arrested 77 suspects linked to these cases. This is a 58% increase when compared to last year.   The City’s Safety and Security Directorate has noted that the most recovered vehicle brands include Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai. These stolen and hijacked vehicles were mostly found in Philippi, Lentegeur, Bishop Lavis, Manenberg, Gugulethu and Philippi

  The Western Cape High Court has imposed life sentences on the three convicted human traffickers of Joshlin Smith.   Judge Nathan Erasmus took just over an hour to hand down his sentence in Saldahna Bay.   In addition to the life sentences for human trafficking, Erasmus also handed the trio 10 years on the kidnapping charge.   There was some drama in the Cape Town City council yesterday, and on social media, after the National Coloured Congress tabled a motion of no confidence in Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.   This was ahead of Hill-Lewis tabling the City’s revised budget.   READ: CoCT Revises Budget — Residents Urged to Comment by 13 June   In the end, the motion was defeated, with 138 councillors voting against it, 46 in favour, and one abstention.
