Philippi East police have registered a culpable homicide case for investigation following a fatal crash between a Golden Arrow bus and a minibus taxi on Monday morning. The Athlone Police have registered a case of public violence for investigation following protest action at the College of Cape Town in Crawford on Tuesday morning. According to police reports, approximately 150 disgruntled learners staged a protest in Kromboom Road in front of an institute of learning. The learners allegedly used different objects to block the roads and started a fire to prevent community members from using the entrance to the institute.

This past weekend ended on a high note for the Metro Police when officers seized more than four kilograms of dagga in Fisantekraal on Saturday, 9 August. Officers received information about drugs being kept at a house. On arrival, the owner of the house permitted officers to search the premises. They found a black bag filled with dagga weighing 3,39 kilograms, a 221 gram parcel of dagga, 92 bankies and 93 dagga
