  Parents and caregivers hoping to transfer their children to new schools in 2026 have just days left to submit applications.   The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) confirmed that the transfer window,  which opened on 4 August for Grades 2 to 7 and Grades 9 to 12, will close at midnight on Monday, 18 August 2025.   Since the process began, more than 15,000 applications have been submitted for these grades.   The WCED

    Police have launched an urgent investigation after the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a rubbish bin in Kraaifontein on Wednesday morning.    The grim discovery was made in Zono Street, Bloekombos, at around 08:30.     Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the circumstances surrounding the incident is under investigation, as officers try to establish how the baby ended up in the bin and who was responsible.    Authorities have confirmed that
