Residents of Macassar are demanding urgent police intervention following the gruesome discovery of a burnt body in Kramat Road on Saturday.

The shocking find has once again shaken the community’s sense of safety, marking the second body discovered in the area in less than a week.

Community leader and Ward 109 Committee member for Safety, Mark Baardtjies, described the incident as a deeply disturbing act of violence that has left residents fearful.

“This is the second body that was found in less than a week. The place has become extremely dangerous, and criminals are turning the area into a dumping site.”

Last week, another unidentified person was found with gunshot wounds. Baardtjies is pleading with SAPS to increase police visibility to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further violent incidents.

Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk confirmed that a murder case has been opened.

“Police registered a murder case following the discovery of the burned body of an unidentified male in Kramat Road. According to reports, SAPS members were called to a scene where the community discovered the body lying in a field that had been set on fire. The victim was already deceased and burned beyond recognition.”
