A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is expected to appear before the George Magistrates’ Court in connection with the murder of a police officer in George.

The Hawks confirmed that the arrest follows the death of a 44-year-old police sergeant, who was found with a stab wound to his chest in Pacaltsdorp on Sunday, 25 October 2026.

The incident happened at a residence in Hedge Road, where the officer was reportedly found by a neighbour.

Hawks spokesperson Siyabulela Vukubi says police were called to the scene after the discovery.

“It is reported that on Sunday, members attended to a crime scene at Hedge Road in Pacaltsdorp, where the neighbour found the victim with a stab wound in his chest.”

He says the suspect, who was in a relationship with the deceased officer, was reportedly seen leaving his residence. The woman was later arrested following a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.

“Investigation led to the arrest of the girlfriend. The police officer was off duty at the time of his death.”

The suspect is expected to make her first court appearance on Tuesday, 27 October, where she will face a murder charge.
