A young mother from Manenberg is breaking the cycle of poverty after launching a night school to help adults, who dropped out of school, to matriculate.

Finishing her matric while juggling motherhood and working without a basic income, was the toughest time of 33 year old Yumna Alexander’s life.

It is for that reason why Alexander recently opened the Hopeful Leaders Night School in her community.

Alexander says despite the classes being held in a container, it did not stop 268 hopefuls to register for free classes.
