CAPE TOWN A ‘PREFERRED GREEN ECONOMY INVESTMENT’ ZONE

Published on

The City of Cape Town’s Economic Opportunities Department says the strengthening of partnerships with overseas countries, will help boost investment in the Mother City’s economy.

The Department hosted the Consular Corps Green Economy Summit, last week, which brought together various role-players in the green economy, aimed at increasing investment in the sector.

May-Co Member for the Department, James Vos, says delegates also visited the Green-economy hub of Cape Town, the Atlantis Special Economic Zone.

‘We provide our international partners and potential investors with a compelling case to consider Cape Town as a preferred green economy investment destination. In addition, we position the Atlantis Special Economic Zone for Green Technology as a dedicated greentech manufacturing hub. The hub is expected to grow the greentech sector in the Western Cape more broadly, and revitalise Atlantis as a key industrial node in the region.

In promoting this sector, the City aims to provide an enabling ecosystem for green investment through funding green skills and enterprise development programmes.
