Twenty-four companies and their staff, drove in a convoy of over 40 cars this Saturday to visit 12 schools in and around Worcestor to drop off books and educational materials. The campaign will help 2124 learners and 78 teachers.
The over-arching aim of the Rally to Read is to develop the reading and writing skills of learners in remote and rural schools.
The Western Cape Rally to Read host for 2018-2021 is The Jonsson Foundation. In this role it funds the Rally Weekend costs, ensuring that the contribution of Rally partners/funders is used solely for the benefit of the schools.
The READ Educational Trust has a multifaceted role as the national Rally organiser, facilitator and delivery partner for the educational programme that follows the Rally weekends. READ has been the key driver and organiser of the Rally since its inception in 1998.
