The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has confirmed that Wynberg Girls’ High School received another bomb threat, marking the second threat in just over a week.

WCED spokesperson Bronagh Hammond said arrangements were made to ensure that matric learners could write their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams without disruption.
“We arranged for the secure transportation of NSC exam papers to an alternative venue, and candidates were informed of this location in advance. We can confirm that the integrity of the examination process has not been compromised.”
Other learners at the school were also able to write their end-of-year exams, although slightly delayed.
“Once the South African Police Services (SAPS) gave us the all-clear, all other grades were able to write their exams.”
Although the threat was later confirmed to be a hoax, Hammond emphasised that the perpetrators should face legal consequences.
“This constitutes a serious criminal offence. Such actions are illegal and highly disruptive. We trust that SAPS will pursue this matter and identify those responsible.”
SAPS spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that investigations into the incident are underway.
