Spine Road High School has emerged as the overall winner in Cape Town’s Energy Efficiency Schools Programme Poster Competition, taking home a stationery voucher worth R15 000.
The initiative, which drew participation from ten schools across the city, encouraged learners to express their understanding of energy-saving practices and sustainable living through creative poster designs.
Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Xanthea Limberg, commended the participants for their innovation and environmental awareness.
“Educating our young people on energy efficiency and renewable energy is essential as they are key change-makers. They hold great influence to help shape more sustainable practices in their schools, homes, and communities.”
Limberg says the competition forms part of the City’s broader campaign to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy education in schools, aiming to nurture environmentally conscious citizens from a young age.
The 10 schools which participated were:

- Norman Henshilwood High School
- Iqhayiya Secondary School
- Isilimela Comprehensive School
- Livingstone High School
- Wynberg High School
- Spine Road High School
- Zola Senior Secondary School
- Oracle Academy High School
- Cedar High School for the Arts
