Detectives attached to the Anti-Gang Unit have arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the murder and attempted murders that occurred last week at the Athlone Court and its vicinity.

The suspect is currently under police guard in the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment after allegedly being shot and wounded by a rival gang member in another incident.

Once formally charged, he is expected to appear in the very same court where the incident took place.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and the possibility of additional arrests cannot be ruled out.

During the shootings last Friday, suspected gang fights unfolded, which saw a man shot dead on the court premises. A firearm and personal belongings were later recovered.

Nearby, a man and a woman were shot and wounded in separate incidents.

The deceased person, who was shot inside the court premises, was scheduled to appear in court as an accused in an assault case.
