The Mzansi Youth Choir recently joined Coldplay in a cross-cultural performance on the American shopping network QVC, bringing a Zulu influence to the British band’s song “We Pray.”

In a video shared on Coldplay’s TikTok, the choir and band are seen rehearsing ahead of the live event. The moment has excited fans worldwide, especially as Coldplay’s tenth studio album, Moon Music, may be their last.
This isn’t the first time Mzansi Youth Choir has collaborated with Coldplay. Following their acclaimed “America’s Got Talent” performance, they sang “Fix You” alongside the band before a massive audience at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. Their recent QVC appearance allowed the choir to add a Zulu verse, written by the choir director, Sidumo Nyamezele, to the Coldplay track.
The verse, conveying a message of faith, hope, and positive energy, added a powerful dimension to the song.
The choir’s contribution to Moon Music didn’t end there.
They’ve recorded vocals for two tracks, “Jupiter” and “Aeterna”, marking a significant moment in their journey and creating memories that they describe as a dream come true.
The collaboration has allowed the Mzansi Youth Choir to further share South African culture on a global stage, and the partnership with Coldplay, which started with a single performance, has blossomed into a recurring collaboration.
Reflecting on the experience, the choir expressed immense gratitude, saying that each performance with Coldplay felt surreal.
“Being in studio with Coldplay, singing on their new album Moon Music—it felt like a dream! We’re beyond grateful for this moment and all the opportunities leading up to it.”
