The woes and benefits of being the ‘older’ dad

Ryan has been thinking about fatherhood lately – particularly about what it means to become a father a bit later in life than the norm. It seems to have both its advantages and disadvantages, but luckily all the ‘older’ dads aren’t alone.

Celebs who had children much later in life

While they would already have had children at a conventional age, these celebrities all welcomed new born babies to the world at a much later stage in life:

5. George Lucas

George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson had their daughter, Everest, in 2013, when Lucas was 69 years old.

4. Richard Gere

Richard Gere and his third wife Alejandra Silva had their second son when Gere was 70 years old.

3. Mick Jagger

He has the moves like Jagger and the moves like dadda. Pappa was a Roling Stone when he welcomed his eighth child with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick in 2016 — at the age of 73.

2. Robert De Niro

Last year Robert De Niro announced the birth of his seventh child – he was 79 at the time. There is a 51-year gap between De Niro’s oldest child and his youngest child.

1. Al Pacino

Actor Al Pacino and film producer Noor Alfallah welcomed a baby boy to the world last year. The couple named their child Roman. Pacino was 83. Sjoe.
