The French automobile manufacturer, Peugeot, is now making ChatGPT a standard feature across a wide range of its vehicles.
The artificial intelligence (AI), integrated into the brand’s high-tech “i-Cockpit” feature, is activated via the voice assistant “Ok Peugeot”, and is designed to answer questions and offer a variety of innovative services.
AI integration across all models
ChatGPT is, as of Monday, available in all new Peugeot models equipped with voice commands. This is for both new and existing vehicles. And there’s no need to visit a dealer as the product is delivered “over the air”.
The feature comes after a successful pilot phase conducted earlier this year. It involved more than 10,000 customers, who tried and tested the product.
Automobile Corporation, Stellenatis, says the integration of AI is set to enhance driver experience.
“ChatGPT is capable of answering a wide array of complex questions and has the ability to follow a conversation. For example, if you arrive in a city, you can ask it to tell you which monuments to visit, then tell you the history of these places, and finally, if you wish, guide you to one of them using the car’s navigation system.”
It notes that the AI feature can do so much more, such as providing entertainment like quizzes for children, to keep them entertained on longer journeys.
It will be available in the following models:
208, 2008, 308, 308 SW, 408, 508, 508 SW, Rifter, Traveller, Partner, Expert, with the New 3008 and New 5008 joining later this year.
South African Peugeot drivers will not get this luxury just yet. But there are rumours of integration into local vehicles in the next year.
For now, it will be available in 12 languages across Europe. Starting in Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. By the end of July, it will be in Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
