The quest for the crown begins – tips from Miss South Africa

Published on

With entries for the Miss South Africa pageant having opened on Friday, reigning pageant queen, Natasha Joubert, has shared a few insights into how to become her next best successor.

She says a robust work ethic is essential for managing demanding responsibilities and schedules, as Miss SA. She adds that adaptability is also key, especially with the reality television show, Crown Chasers.

“You also have to be kind and patient as you deal with so many people with different personalities. Have grace with people and be composed. You also must always be authentic and know how to have fun! You have to show your own personality whether on a TV show or interacting with the public.”

Reflecting on her personal experience, Joubert says grateful to have gained exposure to opportunities like Paris Fashion Week, and having had the chance to implement her educational campaigns. She encourages finalists to embrace challenges, anticipating growth and self-discovery.

“I could never have made this happen by myself without this platform and I am extremely grateful. I have always gone in with the mindset of making the most of it.”

Finally, Joubert says it is important to not only be yourself, but to know yourself well. She says when asked questions like “what is your favourite colour”, it had thrown her off.

“I soon realised the judges were gauging how well we knew ourselves… Going into Miss South Africa you have to be completely transparent and open with yourself. It makes the process so much easier.”

Those who wish to enter can simply do so on the Miss SA App (under the ENTER NOW page) or visit www.misssa.co.za, answer a number of questions, upload entry pictures (one head and shoulders and one full body image) and the link to their entry video.

There will also be live sessions that will be hosted on Miss South Africa’s social media channels, in preparation for the competition.
