September is Tourism Month

Published on

September is Tourism Month and roleplayers in the industry have called on local citizens, to support tourist attractions in Cape Town and the Western Cape, to help the industry recover, post covid-19. The mayoral committee member for economic opportunities James Vos suited up at the beginning of the month, for the best zipline adventure experience on the continent.

The Cape Town Zipline is located in Hout Bay and has been voted in the top spot of adventure experiences in Africa, by Tripadvisor.

The Forest Adventures zipline experience sees you take an open-top 4×4 midway up a mountain, with the cliffs and a picturesque valley, on your right.

Once you get clipped on the line – off you go and you can scream your lungs out at your heart’s content. At the end of the lines, you are helped to a platform and that concludes your exhilarating adventure.

Positive growth figures

Alderman Vos says tourism is already showing positive growth figures and he forecasts better numbers for the summer. He has encouraged Capetonians to go on local adventures, to further help the sector.

An influx of passengers expected

In the upcoming weeks, more flights from US, UK, and European airlines are expected to arrive at Cape Town International Airport. In addition, the new United Airlines route from Washington alone is predicted to bring in up to R523 million in direct tourism spending for the Western Cape, in its first year.

The city is anticipating 104 cruise ships visiting, over the course of the 2022–2023 cruise season. There will be about 200 000 passengers on board these vessels. If they come on-shore, this could generate hundreds of millions of Rands, in passenger spending.
