The South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis along with the National Institute of Communicable Diseases said the latest findings provide epidemiological evidence for Omicron’s ability to evade immunity from prior infection. Their statement was issued after a group of South African health organisations published a paper as a pre-print, meaning the work was not yet certified by peer review.

Meanwhile, the Plett Rage festival has been cancelled. Organisers say an alarming number of positive cases were reported to them by customers from their hometown, due to them being required to take the mandatory PCR test beforehand. Almost all schools set to attend Plett Rage have positive cases.
