The Department of Health says the lessons learned in the first three waves of the pandemic have helped the country better prepare for the next wave.
Health Minister, Joe Phaahla says the next wave is expected toward the end of this year, or early next year.
He warns that a low vaccination rate may still cause the healthcare sector to be overwhelmed, should another resurgence occur.
The Minister says countries across the globe have already started seeing a renewed increase in infections.
