With the number of covid-19 related deaths going up by more than 1 000 in the last week, young people are still continuing to drive up new Covid-19 infections, during the third wave.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says the highest proportion of people testing positive in the last week were aged 15 to 19 years (at over 27%) and 10 to 14 years (also more than 27%). In males, the percentage of positive testing was highest in individuals aged 15 to 19 years.
