The rate at which South Africa is vaccinating its citizens is expected to pick up pace significantly, from 1 August.
The National Health Department this morning announced those between the ages of 35 and 49 will start getting their Covid-19 shots from next month.
Registration on the EVDS for this cohort will begin on 15 July.
Weekend vaccinations are also expected to be ramped up, following additional funding from Treasury
Acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane says they want to reach as many South Africans as quickly as possible.
More than 4 million South Africans have now received a dose of a vaccine.
On 15 July 2021, registration for people aged between 35-49 will open and start vaccination from 1 August 2021.
