South Africa is set to get a new hub to manufacture vaccines.

Published on

The World Health Organization and its Covax partners have announced, they are working with a South African consortium, to establish its first Covid mRNA vaccine technology transfer hub. Technology transfer hubs are training facilities where the technology is established at an industrial scale and clinical development performed. President Cyril Ramaphosa, who took part in a joint webinar yesterday, says the initiative is a major advancement in the global effort to build vaccine development and manufacturing capacity. He says this is good news for Africa, which has the least access to vaccines.
