Premier Alan Winde says the province is expecting to receive around 260-thousand doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which, when it arrives, will be distributed immediately to qualifying residents.

He says approval is currently still being awaited from the US FDA on if the doses are safe for use here in South Africa.

Winde says Western Cape facilities and healthcare workers are ready to start administering the doses, should it arrive in the province.
