The Western Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Tertius Simmers says his Department has from July last year, until the second week of April this year, recorded 1 078 incidents of illegal land invasions. Simmers says his Department has spent more than R 355-million in the past financial year, to try and fight illegal land and building-invasions.
