The minister of health, dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that the electronic registration process for people over the age of 60 to receive the covid19- vaccine opens today. This forms part of preparations for the second phase of government's vaccine rollout campaign. This as the country is expecting 30 million Pfizer doses, with the first batch expected to arrive in May.

The minister of health dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that nearly 1 400 new covid-19 cases have been recorded over the latest 24-hour monitoring period, in the country. At the same time, 73 deaths were confirmed, taking the death toll to 53 571. Mkhize says in the past 24 hours 1 372 new infections were detected.

The Western Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Tertius Simmers says his Department has from July last year, until the second week of April this year, recorded 1 078 incidents of illegal land invasions. Simmers says his Department has spent more than R 355-million in the past financial year, to try and fight illegal land and building-invasions.
