Health Minister, dr Zweli Mkhize says he can now say with confidence, that the second phase of the country's mass covid-19 vaccination campaign, will start next month. Mkhize says a combined 51-million covid-19 doses have been secured for the vaccination drive, of which 31-million are the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and another 20 million doses of the 2-dose Pfizer vaccine.

Premier Alan Winde says he has been in contact with leaders of multiple states across the world with a request to buy their excess vaccines. It’s all part of the province’s plan to acquire additional vaccines outside of government’s efforts. Winde says the province has reached out to various partners.
