The department of health says 2 488 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country, in the latest 24-hour monitoring period. There were another 237 Covid-19 related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities from the respiratory illness to 47 382. 17 of the 237 fatalities were from the Western Cape.
