The co-principal investigator for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine study in South Africa says they are not cutting any corners with ethics rules as the country prepares to inoculate health care workers from as early as next week, as part of an implementation study. Up to half a million J&J doses are potentially available, initially, with the supplies being drawn from J&J’s research stock, as its vaccine has yet to be approved by regulators. The first 80 000 doses are expected to arrive next week.
