The department of health says the country has recorded 555 new Covid-19 related deaths. Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the national death toll stands on 43 105 deaths. At the same time, 7 150 new infections have been confirmed in the latest monitoring period. The recovery rate is steady at 88.3%.

The price of petrol will increase from next Wednesday (3 Feb), rising by 82-cents per litre, while diesel will go up with 95-cents per litre. According to preliminary figures of the Central Energy Fund, the price of paraffin goes up by about 60c per liter.
