YOUNGEST ECO-WARRIOR HONOURED

Published on

A 10 year old eco-warrior from Cape Town has become the youngest person to win an award that honours individuals making a difference in sustainability at grassroots level across South Africa.

Rocco Da Silva from Somerset West was crowned as the 2019 Waste Reduction Youth Warrior, at the annual PET Recycling Company (PETCO)’s award ceremony.

His project, The Future Kids Club, aims to create awareness and get the youth in his area to commit to participating in monthly beach clean-ups.

Da Silva says his vision is to clean up the environment by creating awareness about plastic pollution and recycling.
