The 2025 FIM World Supercross Championship is set to make history as it roars into Cape Town for a dramatic season finale on 13 December at the iconic DHL Stadium, marking the championship’s first-ever race on African soil.
The thrilling announcement comes as part of the newly revealed five-round global calendar that will see the world’s best riders battle it out across five continents.
With adrenaline-pumping stops in Malaysia, Argentina, Canada, and Australia, the 2025 season will culminate in Cape Town, where the World Supercross Champions will be crowned under the African sky.
“This is a landmark moment — not just for South African motorsport, but for the continent,” said Tony Feldman, Director of Showtime Management, local promoters of the event.
“Cape Town’s passionate fans, stunning setting, and world-class infrastructure are set to deliver an unforgettable finale for riders and spectators alike.”
The South African Grand Prix will serve as more than just a race — it’s a celebration of supercross’s global rise, with major economic spin-offs for Cape Town, including job creation, tourism boosts, and international media exposure. For fans, it’s a once-in-a-generation chance to witness elite dirt-bike racing in their own backyard.
The action begins on 18 October with a history-making opener in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, followed by stops in Buenos Aires (8 Nov), Vancouver (15 Nov), and the Gold Coast in Australia (29 Nov), before the grand finale in Cape Town.
“This calendar is a defining statement for World Supercross,” said Tom Burwell, CEO of WSX.
“We’re delivering elite racing to new audiences while returning to key markets. With Cape Town as our closer, the 2025 season will be our biggest and boldest yet.”
The 2025 championship also debuts a dynamic new global brand identity, including a bold, tire-inspired “W” logo and a globe-shaped design that reflects the international scale of the sport. Fans can expect to see the new look brought to life throughout the season, across events, broadcasts, and digital platforms.
FIM Motocross Commission Director Antonio Alia Portela added: “This is a bold new era for the World Supercross Championship. From Kuala Lumpur to Cape Town, the sport is reaching fans across every continent.”
Reigning champions Eli Tomac (450cc), Shane McElrath (250cc), and Fire Power Honda (Team) are expected to return in 2025, but with fresh talent, fierce rivalries, and new global venues, the title race is wide open.
