The World Health Organization says even though it has started seeing a more pronounced spread of the new recombinant variant of the Covid-19 virus, the variant is not yet of great concern. The variant, known as XE, is a recombinant of the Omicron variants BA-dot-1 and BA-dot-2 and appears in several countries. WHO Covid-19 Technical Lead, Dr Maria van Kerkhove says the XE-variant is SLIGHTLY more transmissible than its predecessors
