Published on

The Western Cape Head of Health, Dr Keith Cloete says the province is nearing or entering the peak of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the weekly digicon, Cloete says although the rate of hospitalization has decreased, cases of patients being hospitalized are on the increase.

There are also more active cases.

Cloete says the provinces remains in the widespread community transmission phase and needs to mitigate the virus spreading to the elderly.

He says when they look at the statistics of last week, compared to the week before that, one can see that case numbers have plateaued.
