A police constable is facing corruption charges after being arrested at Delft police station, prompting a strong warning from the Western Cape’s top police official.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has made it clear that police officers who cross the line and become involved in corruption will not be protected.

The constable was arrested on Monday, 31 August 2026, following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Unit.

Investigators were initially alerted to information about a case docket that had gone missing.

They followed up on the information and conducted a thorough investigation before identifying the police member allegedly linked to the matter.

Dyantyi says corruption has no place in the police service.

The arrested constable is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court Wednesday, 2 September 2026.
