The Director of Working on Fire says their recent experience in Canada, where a local crew of 45 firefighters helped contain wildfires, will assist them in their planning for future fires.
The group was welcomed at the airport by the High Commissioner of Canada in South Africa, Sandra McCardell and the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries Barbara Creecy this week, after their successful contribution to fighting the massive Chuckegg fires.
Working on Fire Director Trevor Abrahams says our local heroes’ work ethic not go unnoticed, and further training will be provided to ensure that local crews are even better prepared when they are called upon again to assist abroad.
