Mzanzi’s favourite pop star Tyla continues to take the global stage by storm, and now she has become the first South African to grace the cover of British Vogue.

In an exclusive interview, the Grammy-award winner Tyla opened up about her meteoric rise, her rich cultural heritage, and how her South African roots have shaped her unique sound and style.

In the British Vogue interview, Tyla candidly discusses the nuances of identifying as both Black and “Coloured,” which is of course of specific cultural significance in South Africa, but which resulted in some backlash amongst her US fans.

In a delightful segment, she also showcased her culinary skills by preparing a traditional meal of pap and chutney paired with boerewors, which Tyla says holds a special place in her heart, reminding her of family gatherings and the comforting flavours of home.

Appearing on the Jennifer Hudson show ahead of the publication of the magazine, Tyla herself got the first look of the cover, and her reaction was on point!
