The All Blacks are in deep trouble in this mini-tour against the Springboks, according to Squidge Rugby.
Their poor form has been evident over the past couple of months, not only to the folks at the popular rugby analysis Youtube channel. And it could be for many reasons. The lack of South Africa’s influence in the Super Rugby competition. It could be the fact that they lack proper leadership under Sam Cane. It could even be the fact that the plans put in place are too easy to exploit by the opposition.
One thing is for sure; Ian Foster’s days as coach of New Zealand’s national team are limited.
The All Blacks have dominated the game of Rugby for the entirety of the modern era. For years, they have brought out the best in every nation they play. They strike fear into the heart of every opposition supporter. But now, they’ve turned into a laughingstock.
A fall from grace
2022 has not been kind to them. Of the four matches played this year, they could only taste victory once. The massive 42-19 win margin in the first test against Ireland was thought to be a warning to all teams set to face them this year. However, it’s since been an uphill battle for Ian Foster’s chargers.
While getting one over the All Blacks has been nearly an impossible feat, beating them by more than seven points is an unimaginable feat. That has, however, been the case in all three losses. All three defeats have been by ten-plus points.
By New Zealand rugby standards, that should be the top reason for Ian Foster to get the boot.
Squidgy on the money again
Youtube sensation, Squidge Rugby, created by the beautiful mind of Robbie Owens, recently posted a breakdown of the Springboks victory this past weekend.
“Ian Foster is only a Rugby coach because he looks like one.”
That is the hilarious quip Owens drops within the first couple of minutes. Then tears apart Forster’s quote after the match, where the coach said that it was probably the All Black’s best performance of the year.
“10 Phases. The All Black’s longest and most cohesive attack of the game and they make a net gain of four meters and lose the ball.”
This happened at about the 30-minute mark of the match and sums up just how poor the All Blacks have been.
Squidge Rugby also reveals just how reliant the Kiwis are on Beauden Barrett to make things happen, and when he’s not involved in the play, it all falls apart – especially against the Springboks.
“Beauden Barrett is currently playing unbelievably well, and I’ve scarcely pitied a player more. He’s so sharp, but the players around him just aren’t on his level”
Owens also makes a comparison between Barrett and Anthony Hopkins, with the multiple award-winning actor starring in a school play.
“They are all theoretically doing the same thing, but only one of them actually looks like they’ve put a lifetime of effort into it.”

For the Springboks, they describe their performance as “probably the best performance since the Rugby World Cup”.
While Springbok fans should still remain cautiously optimistic, this All Black mini-tour should end with the Kiwis heading home without a single point on the Rugby Championship table.
